A couple of days ago I was shocked to receive the news that I will be given a warning letter from the management... All because of the extended leave I took to care for my ailing father!!! Yes, there is no denying that with the current economy uncertainty, the bosses are not taking any chances when it comes to productivity at work, but then again I feel that it is so unreasonable of them to do that, especially when I have already informed them about it and have tried my best to finish up all the tasks that has been given to me prior to my leaves... This is just not fair!!!!
I'm working in a US MNC. The management of this company sucks to the extreme. 1 lady manager loves to fire people whom she don't like and the other manager loves to bring in all his kakis to join the company. They get to eat free food (abalone, tiger prawns, durians etc) from the canteen operator while we as the employees can only stand and watch. My boss not supportive at all, she only gossip in the office, shaking her legs getting high pay. HR worst, any grievances that go to her will be leaked out to the management. The management only care about meetings, they can meet everyday but no outcome. When things happen, they will cook upo stories to hide the incidents.
I quit my job on the spot a few months ago (without a job in hand). The German boss liked to criticise everything I did. He also had very little faith in the employees' work and liked to have a say in everything. (The irony is that he interviewed all of us.) Any suggestion or recommendation we made, he's bound to attack them and then offer his own suggestion as solution.
Im working in a MNC logistics coy... Manager suck, supervisor suck, executive suck... By e way , im a logistics officer. My heads are always not around, im always handling their duties, making decisions.
Coy with double standards, fellow logistics officers get alt sat off. but not me. Im with the coy longer than them. Have to come bk every sat to handle their duties. All they have to do is to call me from home, give me directions to work. But my warehouse storeman never listens. Im given tonnes of responsibilities but no authority.
Im working totally out of my job scope. Admin and customer service aside, im even involved with warehouse operations, physical at times. Manager always not around , supervisor is a bull, stubborn man, an autocrat. Stick in e mud... Did not want to work, but when something happen, starts to point fingers...
Do you want to be a general when only 2 soldiers are allocated to you? To make thing worst e 2 soldiers are old and sick chicken... har har har... this is e BEST MNC coy im working in... Sick...
In the whole dept im e only one who has a degree besides the manager... So this is the real world... it sucks... stinking recession...
First i like to share my empathy with all those who posted their stories here. Like all, I'm stuck with a very unreasonable boss. Well it's a employer's market now, not much I can do. Anyway, here's a joke to lighten your day. Went to 7-11 to get a "bic" brand lighter. At the counter, asked the cashier "Excuse me, do you have a "bic" lighter?" The cashier replied, "Sorry, we dun have, we only have "small" lighter." It just make my day.....
Been working in this company for 10 years, today just received the news that everyone do not want to hear. Yes, was given the golden handshake and now must seek another job. All these years of loyatly, dedication and hard work was in vain. guess no one cares in these recession. Shit man!
I was living a nightmare working at an FnB holdings company run by a French man. This boss is a tyrant, who terrorises his employees EVERY SINGLE DAY. Comes in when he pleases, tells u he wants a meeting in 5mins and expects u to be already prepared for it. By being "prepared" means ALL the previous meeting's tasks that he assigned to you MUST be completed by the next meeting. And his meetings are 2-3days apart, with 10-20 points to fulfil. Each time I found myself overwhelmed with work that I know cannot be completed in that time frame. But he doesn't give a shit about us or if we have any problems. Even if you got to him he will not help you but as you to solve the problem yourself. He only knows how to scold people. He fucks us every meeting because he doesn't take "Sorry, i haven't started working on it" for an answer. He just goes ballistic and starts yelling in your face and slamming the table and insulting you more and more till I seriously felt like slapping his face. Working for him sometimes is like as if I'm in primary school. He DEMANDS to go through every email I sent, he expects me to print it so that he can circle the errors in red and make me retype and reprint till he is satisfied. He is a SUPER MICRO MANAGEr, TOTALLY PARANOID ABOUT EVERY SINGLE THING. He doesn't trust anybody but himself, so he questions us all the time if we are including him in our email correspondence and if we are REALLY going out for meetings.
When I first joined, he told me that if he yelled at me, he dun mean it. He just need to get it off his chest. Then how about I slap him and tell him I am sorry after that. Does it count? Does fucking your employees all the time and degrading them make them more productive? Does fear create excellent results? The answer is NO. I just hated him more and more to the point where I stopped taking time to produce better results. And gave him some rushed out, half-hearted work that he will eventually ask me to redo. Even if you give him 120% he will still tell u it sucks and u have to redo.
Working at that company almost drove me crazy. Before every meeting my hands would shake, I get so nervous and frightened and totally pissed at the end of the meeting each time(because of his yelling in my face and degrading remarks) It is IMPOSSIBLE to respect him as a boss. Because he doesn't respect us as his staff. To him, we are like slaves because he gives us our paycheck. Most people don't last in the company for more than a year, and I was actually planning to resign after half a year, even though the economy was bad. But the ASSHOLE actually sacked me just before I tendered. GREAT! Good Riddance. ASSHOLE BOSS sacked me on 30th Dec, and didnt give me my pro-rated 13th month that I was supposed to get. But to me, it's a blessing in disguise because if he didn't sacked me, I probably would be forced to stay because of the economy slump...and have to tolerate his incessant yelling and verbal abuse and violent behaviour. I'm so glad I left that shithole and now I found a new job that is so much better though the pay is less.
I will NEVER visit any of his restaurants because I know how he runs it. You can't give good service when your staff feel mistreated and unhappy working for an asshole boss like you.

I'm now working in one of US Chip co.I work for my client for one year but it seems that the politics in my office is in high tension now due to one staff and that is my supervisor.He's really a pervert, a sabo king and back-stabber and realli created a scene in the office.Recently got a case that 'somebody' steal coach purses and guess what he's blaming but in the end GOD is great and thanks to the CCTV camera that not much evidence against me and he can't saw that i steal the thing.So pervert, in this office i respect u but u're outside YOU ARE DEAD!!!
I work in this famous japanese technology company. The top management and department managers are almost always japanese. Most of them are fine except unfortunately my department GM is not. Everything friggin thing want to be his way, no other way. Somemore his communications skills and language so bad that he can't make himself clear (even though he thinks everybody understands him). When we thought we have an understanding and go do our job, he saw the job liao then berate you loudly in the office for not doing it his way. What the heck. If you want it your way but can't make it clear, shouldn't you do it yourself or best still, get a robot to do it? You dun need an engineer to do it. Also so quick to judge when he sees things he dun like about your work... say your thinking like student and work like carpenter. Can he just try to understand what we are trying to say before blowing it every time? Even my colleagues work here for many years say first they see japanese like that one. WT#$@$%!!!
hi this is my first bitching i have read many of up and down 4 those who had been around for so long. i also have very bad unreasonable bosses around at my work place they alway sabo me.about a year back i change my attitude to get back on them until recently some of them came to know what i mean i was reward me with a warning letter anyway i sack all my asshole boss/supervisor.
the story began here, for many year what i do and design all the asshole(Project manager,bosses) alway said they are the one who contribute and get the credit and bonuses anything go wrong they blame my team for not doing it right. One day i call my team and teach them alway greed those asshole as boss eg. goodmorning boss, hello boss,yes boss and alway sweet word ending with boss and this assholes are very happy and feel so proud especially infront of lady and stranger they even buy coffee for us. Next i tell my team greed goodmoring sir or hello sir to those they think is good boss and supervisor that alway help and try to solve our difficuly when we encounter in the project it when on well for quite sometime until one bastard from my group sabo us he inform those asshole boss,supervisor i teach them, if you think those boss are fuck type "call them boss which mean they are actually asshole" and call those who are good as sir.
well you know what happen after that.
Those we call boss was very angry and piss off they call me into the conference room and really really fuck me upside down and you know what happen i was rewarded with a warning letter, many said i am luck they don't sack me.my answer to my collict is that because they know i am good and capable but i also tell them that my day are number once they get a replacement i will be sack. so i turn around and sack them first. anyway i was offer by another company with better paid and a good enviroment now i am thinking how to out beat them in any thing they do but not to kill them as a competitor. hope you guy who had suffer the same fate will have you opportunities soon. Just remember this out beat them don't kill them. all company is good it is the people that run it make we worker, junior staff suffer.

I've been working in this small company for 2 months doing sales. Selling advertising space for a new magazine. we do not have prior experience in doing a magazine at all. no one in the company does, this include my female boss.
She say "I understand that sales is not easy and stuff. Thus, it takes time to gain experience along the way. But don't treat this place as a training centre. For the past 2 months there aren't any revenue, I want to see revenue coming in by Sept. If you are seeing any potential clients, you can bring them out for lunch. Don't worry, our company can pay for all these."
Alright, I felt comforted after she says this, at least she understand. However, my taxi claims are capped at $100. And my claims for that mth, just to go out for meetings, it actually totaled up to $230. HR paid me $100 and claims that it's according to the contract. I voiced out to my boss asking if I can claim the rest. Immediate response: NO. I have my own reason. Because there isn't any revenue coming in.
Then i told her: Alright, I shall keep within the claims allocated then. I will not exceed it. Subsequently she told me: I hope this will not affect your sales performance or bringing in advertisers. I said: Of cause! I hope this WILL NOT affect too!
After all this hooha and stuff, finding it very difficult to create awareness for this magazine and at the same time getting advertiser in, I don't see a point in staying. This mag is targetting at a niche mkt. Thinking that this idea will work, they just went ahead without thinking of the consequences.
I tendered and she asked me: What if I give you a 100% claim? Will you stay? haha.. of coz not! it's not about the claims anymore, I was thinking to myself I will treat it as a charity contribution.
To fulfill my contract, I have to give 2 weeks notice. This was agreed between my boss, the HR lady and myself. One day later, the HR lady sent an sms to me, saying tt my boss is letting me to leave earlier, thus my last day will be the next day.
Knowing that I cannot do anything against this, I called my boss asking her the reason in the sudden and last min change. She said she feel that I have nothing much outstanding on hand. Thus, she don't think there's a need for me to stay for the 2 weeks. I told her that I find it ridiculous when we have already agreed and she just changed her mind after a day.
Then she told me: Please don't be sensitive, I can't afford la. I cannot afford to pay you.
Alright, since I got the MAIN reason, fine! What a good and comforting boss.
am pretty sad that my manager is able to sit in her position just by taking our ideas and presenting to the management. She has no knowledge on the operations, no strategies and about each and every proposal, she will ask us "what do you think?" she does not share her knowledge nor contribute her opinions and even scolded my colleague using very demeaning words like "use your common sense and your brain!"
She wears another face to the management.
She loves to play politics. All other managers knows that and hate her to the core, everybody is speaking bad about her behind her back but nobody is doing anything to it. She will say things like "oh she has the ability and power to affect somebody's salary, increment, bonus etc"
So i guess if she doesnt like someone, she may speak bad about that person in front of the management and thus affecting everything...
and what is the saddest thing of all.. the saddest thing for the company is that she is the HR manager. isn't HR about human?

well....my case is different where i have my future plans n commitment,although now I have achieved far bit.n experienced workin with most of the ppl. I neva want to forget my root,like most of my ex-bosses.oh olease they were thinking highly of themselves n look down on other ppl.guess wat happen?THE KARMA STRIKES N EACH OF THEM BANCRUPTCY....And the last was my ex-lady boss whom was born in the rich family,we all used to hates her so much, n now she is doing a food delivery,3yrs after we all cursed her.Im feeling sorry for her.n the one i prefer very few of them whom is very humble but straight forward ppl dat i relly loved to work with n good to learn from.1 of them is my successor.the other one is my good fren n to dis date they are very successful n I am very proud to worked for,n to call them BOSS again.too bad they are my partner now.the power of retribution.Its ok ppl get pissed off,work hard n prayhard then they will get hard in life.

To 5B, thanks for the encourage man, well, I already out of the company. But I still do believe in my ability. Anyway, I always joke with my team and the contractors who work under me, the difference between us is just a matter of how much pay we get. We are paid to do our own job and we do have different job scope. Yah, I am mainly getting paid to do planning, co-ordination and admin work. But I believe one thing. If I get myself involved with the ground work or shit work that what other people might call it, I believe I can have a better understanding and knowledge of the job, the planning not say superb but yet at least make sense and do not waste too much time n resources. When I am being asked for advise or the guys come to me for problem solving, I will not give silly advises that only sound good but ridiculous neither do I push them to solve the problems on their own. After 2 years of my job in here, we had a happy working relationship. Regardless of rank, everyone works. Though no one covers my ass on top but I did my best to cover theirs. At times I got my ass ripped because of them. The whole thing is not to show off but to tell the supervisors and above, the guys are the one who runs the whole bloody show. When they do right, no one give them a pat on the shoulder. When they do wrong, they get all the blames. Okay, you going to tell me 4B is silly, that's how the society works. We are all paid to do our jobs but we are not paid to get scoldings. We might have a bad day when management puts pressure on us. I might be a tiny little supervisor but I do deal with the management. But that doesn't give us a reason or an excuse to vent out on the workers. They might be low ranking, some of them even have attitude problems, but it's just a matter of communications. Screwing up your guys might also ends up screwing up yourself. I believe some bosses just worries that someone might climb faster over their head n take over them. Well if so, make sure that you stay ahead of them. If you have the capabilities, why scare ? Well, I do give my guys welfare and when they slack, I will just take away their welfare but I never really scold them. Firstly most of these guys are older than me, secondly they are human and not dog. I often stayed with the team till 12am almost everyday. When I left the company, they still gave me a farewell lunch and a drink. I thought they were going to blanket party me after they got me drunk. Call me an idiot but I still do believe in teamwork especially my job requires lotsa teamwork. Besides managing these guys, I still have my own job to do, paper pushers who thought they knew everything and management to handle. Cause bosses always feel that they have a lot to do, they have no time for human management. But to the bosses, my job requires me to plan, co-ordinate, able to give technical advises of arthandling, admin work, stand for at least 8 hours a day, work till 12am per day, at times even includes weekend, I have ever work 26 days of overtime in a row, including weekends, the schedule was so crazy that I had to work minimum 14 hours per day and 8 hours of them are to help in physical works due to lack of manpower, 30 mins of lunchbreak because I have to clear my paperwork. I didn't have managers back then, so most of the decisions were made by me which gave me a whole load of responsibilities, attend meetings with the contractors and all the personnel involved with the events.
